Use the following ideas to help you stay organized during the school year...
a) Write a title and date on all of your notes, handouts and assignments
b) Use binders, dividers and folders to keep all notes and handouts labelled and in their correct place
c) Use a daily planner (agenda) every day to write reminders, important dates, events, homework, to do lists etc...
d) Also, give yourself extra reminders: use your cell phone or Ipad, Wechat, your laptop, sticky notes at home or in your locker and ask friends and family to help remind you of important things
e) Keep your locker and your backpack clean and sorted - reorganize weekly or monthly
f) Be consistent with your organization habits - i.e. where you put sticky notes, making daily to do lists etc...
Time Management Skills
Use the following ideas to help you manage your time properly...
a) Evaluate how, when and why you learn best so that
you can become productive. Consider
-how much can you get done in 30 minutes or an hour
-how long can you work without a break
-do you work better in silence or with noise
-do you work better in the morning or at night
-do you work better at home or school
-do you work better independently or with friends
-what are your biggest distractions
-are you effective during class time - why or why not
-how do you manage big projects / assignments
b) Schedule work time at the same time everyday so it becomes routine or habitual
c) Find out what your motivation is and try to use that to help you get results
d) Set limits and guidelines for your free time and be your own boss
e) Review and practice daily in your school courses as this benefits your learning and memory
f) Keep track of what you do or don't accomplish and readjust your schedule and priorities so you can find an adequate routine and balance of school and fun
